Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had an amazing countdown yesterday. 2018 has just started and here I am still freezing to death in Hokkaido. Anyways, to commemorate the start of a new year, I should start making new reading goals for the year of 2018.
I will start off with Goodreads ‘2018 Reading Challenge’. I’m deciding to stick with a goal of 50 books. I shall not be over ambitious and set a higher goal. Wouldn’t want to get all stressed out to finish the reading challenge.
With the Goodreads reading challenge out of the way, I’m aiming to start clearing off unread books on my bookshelves first before getting more novels. This means I’m going on a book buying ban and I might reduce the number of review requests I accept. This all goes to reducing my to-read shelf which has been piling up to over 200++ books.
As such, I decided to do a ‘2018 TBR’ so as to start clearing off my to-read shelf.
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
The books have been sitting on my shelves for a pretty long time and I have yet to pick them up. Yes, I’m ashamed I haven’t read this amazing series yet but hopefully, I will get to it by the end of 2018. Winter looks so daunting tho. 😦
Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
This is another popular series which I haven’t read yet. The books have also been sitting on my shelves for ages and I’m nowhere near picking them up. 😡
Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
I know I’ve been saying I will get to this series for ages but I never seem to be anywhere near picking Six of Crows up. 😡
The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa
This is another one of those popular series which I have yet to read. I’ve heard nothing but good things about The Iron Fey series thus far.
A Darker Shade of Magic trilogy by V. E. Schwab
I will definitely read this trilogy really soon. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the amazing storytelling and colourful world that V. E. Schwab has created in this trilogy. I’m so hyped to get started reading this novel.
Legend trilogy by Marie Lu
After reading Warcross by Marie Lu, I’m excited to get my hands on her other novels. The amazing world building, characters, and plot just blow my mind away in Warcross. Moreover, I’ve also heard nothing but wonderful things about this series. 🙂
For now, I will just keep my 2018 TBR short as I usually read books based on my mood rather than making a TBR list and keeping to it. Sometimes, I prefer to read romance novels in summer and fantasy novels in winter. I’m also planning to read a few 2018 new releases, such as the final installment in the Illuminae trilogy and many other sequels.
What are your reading plans for the year 2018? Do share your thoughts and plans in the comments section below as I would love to hear them. 😀 May all readers and non-readers have a wonderful reading year ahead.
