What Cats Do Book Tag

It’s finally Friyay! I came across this really cute tag at Maxxesbooktopia‘s blog and decided to do it even though I wasn’t tagged by anyone. There is no way I can pass off a tag that is about cats! After all, cats are my favourite animal. All the fluffy bundle of fur and joy makes me want to hug and squeeze them tight!

Rules

PURR – As cats do this when they’re happy or relaxed, what is the book that makes you happiest or relaxed?

between-the-lines-400

Definitely Between the Lines. This was such a fluffy, cute and easy read. Oliver is such a lovable character that I fall in love with him instantly. Throughout the novel, I was basically just fangirling over Oliver. How I wish I’m Delilah. 😦

SLEEP – What is a book that put you to sleep or was just boring?

21524446

Classics are usually the books that put me to sleep since fantasy books are usually the ones that kept me on the edge of my seat. But, A Thousand Nights nearly put me to sleep. I remembered vividly that I was reading this novel in a library. With the quiet, air-conditioned environment plus this slow-paced novel, those were definitely the best catalysts to knock me into dreamland. Ahem, I guess I over exaggerated. This novel is a slow paced novel without much action. I prefer fast-paced, action-packed fantasy novels as opposed to slow-paced ones so this novel wasn’t my cup of tea.

TWITCH WHILE DREAMING – Have you ever dreamt of a book you read?

Nope. Despite being a regular dreamer, I have never dreamt of a book I read. That is really surprising since most of my dreams are crazy and fantasy-like. Such dreams will never occur in real life. I once dreamt that I was a bird. I was darting around an ancient Egyptian town filled with colourful banners. The bird’s eye view was spectacular. That was one of the best dreams I ever had in my entire life.

SEEMS TO PLAY NICE…UNTIL THE CLAWS ARE OUT – Which book had the biggest plot twist?

16143347

We Were Liars win this hands down. I don’t want to dwell on this novel as I feel that readers should start reading the novel without knowing much or anything about it. Let’s just say that the major plot twist at the end of the novel totally caught me off guard. I was literally left speechless. Definitely pick this novel up if you haven’t!

CUDDLES – Which book character would you give a hug to?

34109104

I have to go with Francie on this one. Even though I don’t really like Francie’s personality, I still want to give her a hug after all the struggles she went through. It is hard to have an alcoholic father and it gets worse with her injury. When someone is going through a tough period in their life, sometimes all they need is a person’s company.

CATNIP – What’s a book that made you have warm and fuzzy feels?

5821978

This is the first young adult contemporary, romance book I picked up and I still love it till this day. I love the bond that Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad have and the chemistry between the characters. I remember this being a cute fuzzy novel that left me all warm and fuzzy after reading it. 🙂

CAT BREEDS – What are your favourite books?

I have quite a handful of books that I love. I will list a few of my favourite from different genres.

  • An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (Fantasy)
  • The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson (Fantasy)
  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber (Fantasy)
  • Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh (Fantasy)
  • The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare (Fantasy) *Yes, the entire trilogy. Jem for life! <3*
  • A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray (Sci-Fi)
  • Slip by David Estes (Dystopian) *psst* I love the trilogy, not just the 1st novel
  • We were Liars by E. Lockhart (Contemporary)
  • The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han (Contemporary)

THE VET’S OFFICE – Your least favourite book

51i2zgo-gjl-_sx331_bo1204203200_

This is one of the only books where I DNF’ed it after reading 2 chapters. The story is so confusing that I couldn’t differentiate the characters and their respective roles. I was so confused that I just decided to stop reading it. So, yeah. Midwinterblood is definitely my least favourite book.

BEING IN PLACES THEY SHOULDN’T – Least favourite cliche

dug-i-have-just-met-you-and-i-love-you-up

One thing that I hate the most in a novel is no doubt instant-love. When the girl and guy just happen to make eye contact and bam, they fall head over heels. I don’t see any connection or chemistry between the characters. Insta-love just doesn’t make sense! I prefer a love triangle as compared to instant-love. At least there is some chemistry present even though love triangle is usually very predictable. Whenever I read a novel and the main protagonist falls in love with a guy instantly, my thoughts are:

*urg, another instant love*

FINAL QUESTION: THE GOOD OLD CARDBOARD BOX – Most Underrated book series

The Slip trilogy by David Estes! This trilogy is one of the best dystopian books I have ever read in my life. The world is so messed up and yet beautiful at the same time. I would die to try a hoverboard or hoverskates. Imagine jumping off a 40-storey building and skating around in mid air. The characters are lovable, world building and character development are astounding. Do pick this series up if you have yet to do so!

  1. Oooh, glad to see your thoughts about We Were Liars. I’ve seen so many mixed reviews of it that I was a bit scared, but I’m super excited now. And oh no about A Thousand Nights! I just bought that a little bit ago, but I’m sad to see that you found it boring. Wonderful answers, Joanne! I already did this tag, but thanks so much for thinking of me! ❤ Wonderful post!!

    1. Do give A Thousand Nights a go! The writing is really very good even though it is slow-paced. I don’t really enjoy reading slow-paced books but don’t make my opnion stop you from reading it! 😀
